Service Terms & Schedule
One-Time Service
Weekly Service
Service Every 10 Days
Bi-Weekly Service
Annual Service (variable schedule as needed)
Mow, Edge/Trim, Blow
Mow, Edge/Trim, Blow - (about $45 per hr)
-Basic lawn service includes mowing, edging/trimming (as
needed), and debris clean-up.
-Grass clippings do not cause thatch; they are actually
beneficial to the lawn, providing nutrients, shade, and improves
water-retention. Inform us if you want grass clippings bagged.
Disposal of clippings is not included unless specified, see below
for disposal costs.
-Mowing is recommended from the beginning of March to the
end of October (or mid-Feb through mid-Oct). Start every 7
days while grass is growing quickly in spring, then every 10-14
days when growth slows during summer, returning to every 7
days in fall. Only cut 1/3 of the blade length at a time to a hight
of 2.5" (cut when 4"). Last mow of the year set deck to the
lowest setting.
Small Tree Pruning (from ground level)
Tree Pruning - (about $50 per hr)
Fertilizer Treatments
Starter - $15 per 1,000 sq ft
Organic - $20 per 1,000 sq ft
-Starter fertilizer is formulated especially for newly planted
grass seed.
Organic fertilizer is more safe to use near rivers
and streams, or around pets and small children.
-Recommended 1-4 times per year, best applied in early spring,
late spring, early fall and late fall (every 2 months or every 6-8
weeks).
Lime Application
Lime - $20 per 1,000 sq ft
(free with moss control application)
-Soils in the Seattle area are generally very acidic. A pH test will
determine the pH of your lawn and the amount of lime needed to
neutralize the acidity to stunt moss growth. Regardless of the
pH, moss may invade shady or excessively damp areas. Shady
areas should be watered less often.
-Neutral soil allows better access for nutrient absorption by the
root system. Optimum pH range is between 6.5 and 7.0.
-Recommended 1-2 times per year, in the spring and again in
the fall.

Weed Control
Weeding By Hand/Using Hand Tools - (about $45 per hr)
Weed Killer (herbicide) - $35 per 1,000 sq ft
-It is much easier to keep flower beds weeded on a routine
schedule rather than just every once in a while, as more weeds
mean more weed seeds where you don't want them. Herbicides
are available in both pre-emergent (before weeds sprout) and
post-emergent solutions, but weeding by hand or using
hand-tools is often preferable as herbicides leave the dead,
discolored weeds in place until they decompose and the use of
hazardous chemicals in the environment has negative effects on
other biology.
-Pre-emergent herbicide
should not be used until after
dethatching/aerating. If re-seeding, it should be applied after
mowing the new grass the 2nd time.
-Post-emergent herbicide is a broad leaf weed killer, which
selectively kills dandelions, clover, and other invading weeds
while not affecting grass and is typically applied at least a week
prior to re-seeding.
Moss Control
Moss Control - $35 per 1,000 sq ft
(includes lime application)
-Moss thrives in damp, shady areas with compact soil, and
prefers acidic conditions.
-Iron based product in pellet form, kills moss without harming
grass.
-Best performed in early spring when weather is still cold before
spores are released. Repeat application may be needed if
applied later in the year, for spores that survived in the dirt.

health and beauty of the landscape.
Lawn Edging
Front - $20
Back - $25
-Define a clear edge of the lawn to separate grass from other
areas of the lawn such as flower beds, around the base of trees,
walk-ways, etc.
-We currently only offer to cut the edge of the turf, which will
need to be performed occasionally throughout the year. More
permanent options will be available in the future, such as:
plastic, metal, brick or concrete.
-Landscape fabric placed beneath the mulch provides a more
permanent solution, as mulch decomposes over time.
-A layer of mulch should be at least 3" thick to effectively
suppress weed growth, and should be replaced when most of it
looks more like soil than wood chips.

Core Aeration (Standard Double-Pass)
Aeration - $40 per 1,000 sq ft
-Soil becomes compacted by heavy use and the natural
seasonal cycle. Healthy soil is "springy," compacted soil is not.
Signs of compaction are: bare spots or areas of little/no growth,
poor drainage. If the tines of a garden fork penetrate less than
2", the soil is compacted.
-Aeration relieves soil compaction, allowing roots to grow
deeper, and ensures that air, water, and nutrients are
accessible.
-Aeration also allows better topsoil or sand to be incorporated
into the soil to amend its components when used in conjunction
with top dressing.
-A double-pass ensures the optimum number of plugs per sq ft.
-Recommended 1-4 times per year, best performed in early
spring, late spring, early fall and late fall.
Spring/Fall Clean-Up
Spring/Fall Clean-Up - $65 per hr
Leaf Clean-Up
Leaf Clean-Up - $65 per hr
Debris Removal
30 gal yard waste bag - $5 per bag
Truck Load - $140 per load
-Most cities allow additional yard waste each week, if placed in
paper yard bags on the curb.
-Trimming and pruning bushes should be done at specified
times of the year for each type of plant (see the Tree Pruning
description under the
Yard Care Tips tab for more information.
-Pruning services do not include haul away, see below for debris
disposal costs.
Over Seeding
Broadcast Seeding - $20 per 1,000 sq ft
-We use a premium northwest grass seed mix with a sun and
shade blend of rye grass and fescue.
-Prune back any brown areas of otherwise green (non-woody)
plants. All broken limbs should be picked up off the lawn and the
remaining stump trimmed back to the trunk. Prune trees while
they are dormant.
-Any fallen leaves should be cleaned up out of flower beds and
off the lawn before they start to smother the grass. In the fall this
should be done weekly until all the leaves have fallen.
-Clean-up services do not include haul away, see below for
debris disposal costs.
-Any fallen leaves should be cleaned up out of flower beds and
off the lawn before they start to smother the grass. If left for too
long, they act as a mulch, suffocating the grass and allowing
moss to grow in its place. In the fall, leaves should be cleaned
up weekly until all the leaves have fallen.
-Clean-up services do not include haul away, see below for
debris disposal costs.
